Ed Sheeran (31) decided twenty years ago that he wanted to learn to play the guitar because of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth (96). The singer writes this on Instagram in the run-up to his performance during the celebration of the British Queen’s platinum jubilee. Various activities are being organised, including a pop concert at Buckingham Palace and a service of thanksgiving as The Queen celebrates 70 years on the throne this year.
“It’s crazy how life always goes round and round”
‘Twenty years ago I watched the Golden Jubilee on television and wanted to start playing guitar. Eric Clapton played the song Layla. That’s what I want too, I thought at the time,” Sheeran writes. ‘Ten years later I played The A Team during the Diamond Jubilee and now I can perform during the Platinum Jubilee on Sunday. It’s crazy how life always goes back to a circle.’
Ed Sheeran will play his song ‘Perfect’ on Sunday for Elizabeth, but also for her late husband Prince Philip. He died in his sleep last year at the age of 99.
