Amy Schumer to Produce and Star in Netflix’s ‘Kinda Pregnant’ Directed by Tyler Spindel
In an exclusive development, Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Amy Schumer is set to take on the dual roles of producer and star in the upcoming film, ‘Kinda Pregnant.’ Directed by Tyler Spindel, known for his work on ‘The Out-Laws,’ the project is a collaboration between Netflix and Happy Madison.
Penned by Julie Paiva, the storyline revolves around Lainy, portrayed by Schumer, who experiences jealousy over her best friend’s pregnancy. In an attempt to cope, Lainy begins wearing a fake baby bump, leading to unexpected encounters, including meeting the man of her dreams.
Joining Schumer in the production are notable industry figures, including Adam Sandler, Tim Herlihy, Judit Maull, Kevin Grady, and Eli Thomas for Happy Madison. Molly Sims represents Something Happy Productions, with Barry Bernardi, Michael D Robins, and Kevin Kane serving as executive producers.
Schumer, recognized for her Emmy-winning work and a Golden Globe nomination, gained prominence with her lead role in the 2015 romantic comedy ‘Trainwreck.’ Her diverse filmography includes acclaimed performances in A24’s drama ‘The Humans,’ STX’s comedy ‘I Feel Pretty,’ and the military film ‘Thank You for Your Service,’ alongside Miles Teller.
Beyond the big screen, Schumer is celebrated for her sketch series ‘Inside Amy Schumer,’ recently revived for a fifth season on Paramount+, and the Hulu series ‘Life & Beth,’ which she created and continues to star in. Her upcoming projects include the Netflix comedy ‘Unfrosted,’ marking Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, and the release of the comedy special ‘Emergency Contact’ this year.
Director Tyler Spindel, known for helming Netflix and Happy Madison’s action comedy ‘The Out-Laws,’ featuring Adam DeVine, Nina Dobrev, Ellen Barkin, and Pierce Brosnan, adds ‘Kinda Pregnant’ to his impressive portfolio.
