In a shooting at a school in the Texan city of Santa Fe ten people were killed and ten injured. The 17-year-old student Dimitrios Pagourtzis was arrested shortly after the shooting. He is seen by American media as the shooter.
In addition to Pagourtzis, the police arrested another person. Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, reported in a press conference that the shooter with a rifle and revolver from his father stepped into the building shortly before the school day.
Eyewitnesses told CNN that afterwards he invaded a class and started shooting. The school was immediately evacuated. After the shooting the police found explosives in and around the school. A Molotov cocktail was found in the suspect’s house.
The wounded have been transferred to hospitals in, for example, the nearby city of Galveston. An agent has also been shot. Most of the wounded would be schoolchildren.
Abbott said at the press conference that the shooter initially wanted to commit suicide, but still surrendered.
“We need to do more than just pray for families, it’s time to take action in Texas and prevent this tragedy from repeating itself,” Abbott said.
One is in custody, a second one detained. An injured police officer is being treated, the extent of his injuries are unknown.

President Donald Trump made himself heard via Twitter shortly after the incident. He expressed his condolences to the victims.
The shooting in Santa Fe, located some 50 kilometers southeast of Houston, is the 22nd shooting incident at an American school this year.
In February, seventeen were killed when a 19-year-old student with a semi-automatic rifle shot around a school in Parkland, Florida.
School shooting in Texas. Early reports not looking good. God bless all!
