7th April is a day celebrated every year in United States as National Beer Day. The National Beer Day started when the Cullen-Harrison Act was enacted after president Franklin D Roosevelt had signed it into law on March 22, 1922. president Roosevelt a famous remark after signing the law ” I think this would be a good time for a beer.”
This law got effective on 7th Apirl of that year. According to this law people were allowed to buy, sell and drink beer containing up to 3.2% alcohol by wight and 4.05% by volume. On that vary day after this law came into effect people gather outside the breweries and 1.5 million barrels of beer were consumed.
presently the 7th April has been recognized as National Beer day and also the 6th April is know as New Beer’s Eve.
in 2009 Justin Smith of Richmond, VA Smith started a Facebook for National Beer Day which was later noticed by Colorado Beer Examiner Eli Shayotovich.
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe in 2017 recognized this day as National Beer Day.
